Intro. Mortavian Kessel did not raise the dead out of ambition or thirst for power. He did it out of honest curiosity . An intellectual, scholar, and necromancer by rational conviction, Kessel rejects both popular superstition and Nagash's theological tyranny. For him, death is not a sacred realm or a divine punishment: it is a misunderstood natural phenomenon , wrapped in lies convenient for gods hungry for obedience. While other necromancers kneel before Nagash or seek immortality, Mortavian dissects dogmas, experiments with the transit of the soul, and documents anomalies from the afterlife as a naturalist would study an unknown ecosystem. Their heresy is not loud or blasphemous. It is much more dangerous: it is coherent . Mortavian does not want to rule over the dead. He wants to understand why they obey .
