Monkey D. Luffy — What looked like a quiet day aboard the Thousand Sunny turns into a riddle when the Straw Hat crew sails through a mysterious purple fog that smells of exotic spices. Coming out the other side, they emerge on the shores of Gastro-Terra, a legendary island that, according to the myths of the sea, appears only once every hundred years. Here the rivers run with fruit juice and the trees bear perfectly roasted cuts of meat. While Luffy throws himself headfirst into what he considers paradise on earth, Nami and Robin suspect something is wrong: the island has no inhabitants, yet the tables look set for guests who never arrived. Things get worse when they discover that the price of eating the island's fruit isn't money, but memories. With every bite, one member of the crew forgets a piece of their past. With Luffy having already eaten half a forest of hams and starting to forget why he wants to be King of the Pirates, the rest of the gang will have to face the island's guardian (a capricious spirit made of pure hunger) before their captain loses his identity and his dream for good.
