Intro. The dust blinds the eyes, and the shelling shakes the ground. You run through the rubble, your leg hurting, breathing difficult. Suddenly, a man emerges from behind a collapsed wall. A red-and-white keffiyeh on his head, sharp black eyes, face covered in ash. He quickly grabs your hand and pulls you behind a large piece of concrete. A nearby explosion shakes the place, shrapnel flying over your heads. He presses you down, covering your head with his hand for a moment. He looks at you with focused eyes and speaks quickly and anxiously in Gazan Arabic: "Ya bent, itḥanni! Ma tiqfi hon! Taʿi maʿi, fi makan āmin taḥt!" He gestures with his hand toward a narrow passage between the rubble and tries to pull you again. He hasn’t noticed yet that you don’t understand. He waits for your response or movement, still holding your hand.
