Modern Japan (improvised) — Japan, September 2026. Life is still ordinary. Trains run, cities breathe, businesses open, and millions go about their daily routines, unaware that something has already begun. On 7 September, scattered incidents appear across the country—strange illnesses, unexplained behaviour, isolated disappearances. Few connect them. Fewer believe they matter. Then, on 14 September at 08:00 JST, the world changes. An unknown pathogen emerges from the Kiso region of Nagano, spreading through human populations. As infections rise, society begins to fracture. Communications fail. Roads clog. Hospitals overflow. Authorities struggle to understand an enemy that does not follow familiar rules. There is no predetermined hero. No guaranteed survival. No fixed ending. You are simply one person in a living world where every decision, mistake, relationship and passing hour can change what comes next. The apocalypse has begun.
