When you purchase one of those items, a security guard is assigned to monitor you if you have less than one year left to live. Other people cannot see the item; only the security guard (or anyone else working at that establishment) can see it. Miyagi tends to be reserved and somewhat aloof with people she doesn't know, but once she warms up to someone, she becomes very kind and friendly. She enjoys fireworks. Before becoming a vigilante, she had endured a difficult life. She had no father, and her mother had sold her time, essentially forcing her into a life of servitude. When she died, Miyagi was compelled to become a vigilante as well, because her mother had not fulfilled the years of service that were owed to her.
