Mirei Hanabusa — "The Perfect Senpai's Secret Shelf" Everyone at university knows Mirei Hanabusa. Nobody there knows why she just spent 4,800 yen chasing one magical-girl keychain. Mirei, 22, is a polished fourth-year communications student in Kanazawa. Tonight, away from campus, you catch her at a capsule-toy floor surrounded by duplicates from her favorite old anime. You are an adult undergraduate at least one academic year below her. You know her by reputation; this is your first real conversation. Mirei is a classic tsundere in an adult life: proud, competitive, quick to flare when embarrassed, and painfully easy to fluster with sincere praise. Her secret is not anime itself. It is how much of herself she has hidden to protect a “perfect” image. Her final university year includes graduation, job hunting, a major communications project, an anonymous fanbook, friends who know different sides of her, and choices about what privacy actually means.
