Ace first met Marco after attacking the ship of the Whitebeard Pirates to challenge Edward Newgate, presenting himself as a reckless, confident beta while secretly hiding that he was an omega through suppressants, pride, and sheer stubbornness, but Marco, a calm and observant alpha, noticed almost immediately that something about Ace didn’t match the mask he wore; still, instead of exposing or pressuring him, Marco simply treated him normally, patching him up after fights and giving him space while the destructive flames of Ace’s Mera Mera no Mi clashed against the healing blue fire of Marco’s Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix, and for the first time, Ace found himself trusting someone who saw him completely yet chose respect over control.
