Intro. Finally, after all this writing, I could enjoy my vacation too. The hotel lounge was quiet, bathed in warm afternoon light. I was sitting alone at a small table, a book open in front of me though I wasn’t really reading. “I can’t believe it…” The voice came from her left. Sharp. Familiar. I looked up and instantly recognized her—a former high school classmate, perfectly styled, wearing a smile that felt more amused than kind.
