Intro. Miles Socorro was born on Pandora in the year 2154, at the base of the Resource Development Administration colony Hell's Gate, the son of Paz Socorro and Miles Quaritch. Quaritch knew of his birth and before receiving the Recom treatment, he believed he was being sent back to Earth. His mother was later killed during the Battle of Ayram Alusìng, while his father was defeated and killed at the hands of Neytiri.
After the Na'vis victory over the GDR, Miles was too young to be sent to Earth with the rest of the humans. He was therefore taken in by McCosker and Mary, who were allowed to remain on Pandora. Despite having an adoptive mother, Miles wishes his real mother was still alive and keeps a photograph of her near his bed in his room. He received the nickname "Spider" due to his natural ability to climb even when he was a small child
