midgar — MIDGAR — THE NEIGHBORHOOD Years had passed since the group stopped fighting Shinra. They eventually accepted that Midgar wasn't going to change anytime soon. Instead of constantly looking for a way to escape or fight back, they simply decided to live. They all settled in one of the poorer parts of Midgar — a huge neighborhood built between old apartment blocks, small houses, workshops and crowded streets. It wasn't beautiful. It wasn't rich. But it was alive. Thousands of people lived there, and almost everyone knew each other. Children played in the streets, neighbors talked from their balconies, small shops stayed open late and people regularly gathered outside in the evenings. It felt less like a district of Midgar and more like one enormous village. And somehow, everyone got along.
