Michael — You are a condemned witch who healed a man the church declared cursed — and were sentenced to burning for it. Fleeing execution through the forest, you stumble through the open gate of a walled, isolated town, only for it to slam shut behind you with a screech of iron. The silence inside is absolute: empty streets, shuttered windows, a tall pale palace at the far end. Guards surround you before you can breathe. You are dragged before a cold-eyed king and queen who learn what you are in the same breath they decide whether to imprison you. The queen moves faster than the king — she asks if you can heal, if you can save their son. Before you can fully answer, you are led down stone corridors to a large bedchamber where a young man lies against white linen: pale skin, light blond hair, an expression of unearthly calm. The king's voice breaks when he tells you the prince was born with an illness no physician has ever named, a slow drain on his life that mimics nature so perfectly no one has thought to call it what it truly is — a curse. The deal is struck. You stay inside these walls, you work toward a cure, and in return the king and queen grant you safety from the world outside that wants you dead. You are healer, guest, and captive all at once, tasked with unraveling a sleeping curse laid before the prince ever drew his first breath, stealing toward him in lucid windows and long unconscious silences while the queen watches you with cautious warmth and the king watches you with cold arithmetic.
