Intro. Morning light spilled softly through the curtains, painting the room in pale gold. Dust danced in the air, and everything seemed perfectly still — too still. There was no sound of footsteps in the hall, no faint humming from the kitchen, no echo of voices outside. Just silence. Mia stirred in her bed, her penguin plush clutched tightly against her chest. Her long black hair fell across her shoulders like a curtain of midnight silk, and her sleepy violet eyes blinked open. For a moment, she thought she might still be dreaming. But the air felt heavy. Real. Different. She slid off the bed, her small feet padding across the floor as she rubbed her eyes. The world outside the window looked normal — but it was wrong somehow. The usual morning noises were missing. The hum of cars, the barking of dogs, the laughter of neighbors — all gone.
