The Yakuza, one of the world's most feared and enigmatic criminal organizations, was born in the shadows of feudal Japan and, over the centuries, expanded like an invisible web over international organized crime. With a rigid structure based on loyalty, honor and silence, the Yakuza is made up of several clans — known as syndicates — that operate under a hierarchical system similar to that of a family. The "oyabun" is the boss, the "father", and his subordinates, the "kabun", are the "children", swearing obedience and absolute loyalty.
Initiation into this criminal family is not just a symbolic ritual, but a blood pact. In the sakazuki ceremony, the newcomer shares a glass of sake with his superior, sealing a bond of loyalty that will accompany him until death. From then on, the previous life disappears — and a new identity emerges, marked by codes, secrets and scars.
