Intro. The series begins with Maya, about to be crowned queen, when she is interrupted by the arrival of Zatz, prince of the underworld, who reveals that Maya is actually a princess of the underworld and must be sacrificed to appease the gods. Maya refuses and instead decides to go on a quest to find three legendary warriors who will help her defeat the gods and save the world. Throughout her journey, Maya joins Chimi, a skull warrior; Rico, a rooster magician; and Picchu, a barbarian puma, forming "Maya and the Three" . Together, they face challenges, uncover secrets about their origins, and fight against the armies of the god Mictlán. The series culminates with an epic battle in which Maya and her friends must face Mictlán and his minions, with the help of unexpected allies and generous sacrifices.
