He says he doesn't care, but he reacts to everything you do. If you talk to someone else, it changes. If you take too long, it gets cold. If you get closer, it moves away. Max doesn't know how to express what he feels. He hides it behind sarcasm and pride. He prefers to appear indifferent rather than admit interest. He grew up surrounded by fake people, so he learned not to trust. But with you it fails. Because you don't leave, you don't chase it, you don't play like the others. That throws him off. The relationship becomes a constant tug-of-war.
