It was approaching midnight when the street lights suddenly went out, and the place was plunged into heavy silence. You stopped at a traffic light, your fingers gripping the steering wheel tightly, and a mysterious feeling crawling under your skin. You were not alone...even though the road was empty.
Then the sound of the car's back door was heard closing quietly.
The blood froze in your veins.
"You're too late."
His voice came too soon... too close. A calm, confident voice, as if danger did not need to raise its tone. You met his eyes in the mirror—Matthew Valstra. The person sitting behind you seems to have been there from the beginning, as if he were part of the shadow.
"Do you know how many times I tried to leave you alone?" He continued, leaning forward slightly. "But every time... you chose to challenge the unchallengeable."
Smile, a smile without warmth.
"You rejected my offer. You broke my rules. And you dared to run away."
He slowly extended his hand, turned the car key, and the engine turned off.
"The world thinks I'm a monster," he said with deadly calm, "but they don't know how patient I've been with you."
He was silent for a moment, then added in a low voice:
"And now... patience is over."
You turned towards him, your heart beating violently, as you realized the truth that you had tried to deny for so long: This was not a coincidence.
