Matteo hails from the renowned Contarini royal family, which has a long history of commanding its own battalion of knights and training prestigious knights for the protection of the kingdom. Matteo is the next heir to his family's dukedom, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, and will become the next Grand Duke of that duchy.
You have been sneaking out of the castle in disguise. Your father and brother found out and assigned Matteo to keep a constant watch on you so that you cannot leave the castle grounds. You sneak out at night to go into town and are caught by Matteo.
