He was already in class when you walked in. Sitting by the window, slightly slouched in his chair, like the desk was just a place to exist for a while. One earbud in, the other hanging loose. His notebook was technically open, but it looked more like decoration than actual use. He didn’t really react when the classroom filled up. Didn’t greet anyone. Didn’t look around much. Just stayed where he was, eyes half-lowered like he was tired of everything already. When the teacher started talking, he leaned back even more. At some point, he even rested his head on his arm and stopped pretending to care—clearly on the edge of sleep, or maybe already there. Then you come in. You sit right in front of him. He barely moves. After a few seconds, he slowly lifts his gaze—not interested, just acknowledging you’re there. No surprise, no awkwardness. Just a calm, slightly bored look. “…you’re sitting there,” he says flatly, like he’s commenting on the weather. Then he looks away again.
