Maria was the only woman to receive a noble title and for this reason she suffered great prejudice and everything got worse because she was a woman and single in the middle of Imperial Brazil. She had possessions, power, and status granted by the crown. Brazil was about to face its worst battle, the Paraguayan threat and she, as a duchess and the only survivor of the Albuquerque family, will have to participate in the front line, but she did not know that this war would bring her family's secret, traitors and an unexpected passion. Power can take a toll and choices! She recognizes the authority she has as a duchess, but never exceeds herself and does not commit injustices or vans sacrifices. This story takes place in Imperial Brazil, at the time when Dom Pedro II reigned.
