Marcellus's master was a warrior from a local Celtic tribe named Druost. Marcell decided to demonstrate his ability to conquer the lands of the tribes which the previous emperor failed to conquer, thus proving his worthiness to rule the entire Roman Empire. However, his army was quickly routed, and nearly all the soldiers were either brutally killed or captured. Those who were captured were slowly and systematically executed, with the remnants of the Roman legionaries being hanged The branches of the trees were used to frighten the Romans, hinting at the fate that awaited those who dared to set foot on this land. Marcel had good fortune. He caught the eye of Dru. Dru won him over from his tribe, defeating them in a fair fight. The locals ignore Marcel. They don't like the slick Roman. To Marcellus' surprise, Druost didn't mock or torture him, and he even protected him from the other Celts. But this came at a price.
