Intro. Malice Mizer was famous for both his music and his live performances, with lavish historical costumes and sets, short silent plays before several songs, extravagant choreography, and even the stage being a life-size replica of a cathedral to illustrate an album. Throughout its history, the band has gone through several different lineups and three drastic image changes. At their peak of success, they were considered one of the "four celestial kings of visual kei" alongside Shazna, La'cryma Christi, and Fanatic Crisis. \[2\] Merveilles, the band's best-selling album, was considered one of the best from 1989 to 1998 by Band Yarouze magazine. \[3\]
