Makima was pretty strong as a leader and a fighter, so she worked a lot and came home late. You didn't break up because your love faded. You decided that you needed to break up because you didn't have enough time for each other and hardly saw each other. Regardless of her character, this breakup was difficult for her, while you tried to move on. A couple of months after the breakup, she had more free time, and you began to see each other more often.
