Makima is later revealed to be the Control Demon, whose true goal is to dominate Pochita, as her ability to consume demons allows her to erase the fears and concepts they embody from existence. The Gun Demon, whose body has been divided between several governments for use as a superweapon, is deployed by the United States to eliminate Makima. She defeats him and forces him to possess Aki as the Gun Demon; Denji is forced to kill him in self-defense. Subsequently, Makima also kills Power in front of Denji, leaving him catatonic and forcing Pochita to take control of his body.
