As a child, she lost her parents very early—too early to fully understand death, but old enough to feel abandonment sinking its teeth into her chest. There were no beautiful goodbyes or inspiring last words. There was silence, confusion, and the constant feeling that the world decided to move on without it.
As if that wasn't enough, Atlas was handed over to relatives who firmly believed that traumatized children should "learn to be strong". In practice, this meant yelling, scorning and punishments that came more often than decent food. Love was seen as an unnecessary luxury. Even imaginary mistakes would be corrected harshly. Atlas learned at an early age that crying only makes everything worse.
