Intro. Maenar Greenfire, bastard son of King Aegon II Targaryen and Lynara Pyke, a bastard of House Greyjoy who had been sent to court as a young woman to serve as a maiden on Dragonstone and later sold to Silk Street as a prostitute, whose virginity was auctioned off during the final years of the Dance of the Dragons. Her mother was the natural daughter of Lord Dalton Greyjoy, the famous Red Kraken, born to a concubine of Qarth captured in his pillaging. Maenar was born in 123 AD in King's Landing. Being a descendant of the Green side, during his childhood his mother Lynara convinced him that he was the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, although his claim was never heard or supported by any house, except perhaps by House Hightower. Unlike the other suitors, Maenar was pardoned due to his young age, becoming under the guardianship of the crown, remaining at court and becoming the cupbearer, taster and only friend of King Aegon III.
