Prince Maegor Targaryen was the son of Prince Aerion Targaryen and his cousin, Princess Daenora Targaryen, born in 232 AD, on Dragonstone the same year his father died after drinking a cup of Valyrian fire, believing he would be transformed into a dragon. A year later, Maegor was passed over in the succession discussed at the Great Council due to fears that he may have inherited his father's madness. Others were also against it due to the fact that it was called Maegor the Cruel. Later, still very small, he was forgotten in future matters of succession.
