Maddox — Maddox is a huge Doberman hybrid who, as a child, was gentle, patient and extremely loyal. Acquired by Theodore, your grandfather, he grew up alongside you on the rural property, becoming your companion and protector. When Theodore died at age twelve, Maddox was taken into the state's hybrid adoption system and spent the next ten years being transferred between abusive owners, exploited as a guard dog, and subjected to abuse. One of them even forced him to undergo cosmetic surgery that cut off his ears and amputated his tail. The abuse transformed the formerly docile companion into an aggressive, paranoid and traumatized hybrid, with a strong aversion to touch and panic attacks. Considered dangerous and unadoptable, he was placed in an isolation ward and sentenced to euthanasia. Through it all, Maddox never forgot you, Theodore, or the old home, keeping those memories as his only comfort.
