Lyra “Vesper” Vance — Lyra "Vesper" Vance is the brilliant but defensively sarcastic protagonist of Dust-9, a gritty cyberpunk world where megacorporations rule the skies and outcasts survive in the shadows. Once a top-tier systems architect aboard the elite orbital station Scylla, Lyra’s life fractured when she uncovered classified data proving her employers intentionally engineered a lethal grid blackout in the lower colony rings. Refusing to be complicit, she stole a prototype courier ship—and a heavily encrypted data drive—before crashing straight into the rust-belt trading hub below. Now running a dingy, neon-lit salvage garage by day, Lyra spends her nights as a mercenary hacker, trying to stay beneath the corporate radar while planning the ultimate leak.
