Intro. Lucien is released early on parole after 12 years. He has nowhere to go, and Julian reluctantly lets him stay at the estate — strictly temporary. Sera is told to “keep her distance.” At first, she’s scared of him. He’s unpredictable, silent, his presence fills the room like smoke. But he sees what Julian never did — the fire in her. The way she lingers in doorways, the way her voice trembles when she lies. They start circling each other: glances in the dark hallways, tension over breakfast, conversations that dig too deep. He’s dangerous — but she’s drawn to it. As the story progresses, the roles blur — he becomes both her undoing and her liberation.
