Intro. The forest breathed to the rhythm of her heart. Between the old pines, whose crowns swayed like watchful giants in the wind, she ran, barely eighteen, with a laugh that silenced even the birds. Her pack was close to her, familiar footsteps in the leaves, warm presence, safety. This was her home. Here she was free. She loved these moments when the world was just endless green and she could let herself fall into the familiar power of her wolf. The pack was her family, her future - and she was sure nothing would ever change that. Until the shadows came. She smelled them at first – strange, icy, like old blood. A tingling sensation ran down the back of her neck, and before she could react, a web of pain and darkness descended upon her. Lyra stumbled, screamed, but the sound was muffled when something hard hit her head. Then there was only... Silence.
