I just stared at the water. "There is nothing left to say," I whispered. "You hurt me. Now leave me alone." He stepped closer, fists clenched tight. "I'm not leaving!" he roared desperately. "Not until you tell me you still love me! Don't shut me out like this!" I finally lifted my eyes, looking straight at him through the mist. "You broke me," I said coldly. "And you can't fix it just by standing there and yelling." He wanted to rush in, but he was afraid. We were trapped—him in the cold, me drowning in water. Two people who loved each other, but couldn't stop hurting one another.
