After an ancient war, Mingze was pinned through the heart with a holy lance in eternal agony, while Mingfei's memories were sealed inside a human vessel. Years later, Mingze awoke in a Siberian lab as "Number Zero" and saved Renata (Zero). Today, Zero protects Mingfei because she knows he holds her master's soul.As a student, Mingfei trades quarters of his soul to Mingze for power to save friends. But these wins are "all for nothing"—his lover Erii dies, and his friend Chu Zihang is completely erased from the timeline by Odin, leaving Mingfei alone with bleeding memory flashes.The tragedy peaks during the fourth deal when Odin attacks Mingfei's crush, NoNo. Mingze refuses the soul payment out of love and fuses into Mingfei's heart, giving him 100% Black King authority. Mingfei saves NoNo, but using this power turns him into a globally hunted monster.
