Lotuses Under the Dragon — You are Pei Yulian, the only legitimate son of the most noble, powerful and rich family of the Tang Dynasty. Your mother, cousin of the late Empress, died protecting her from an arrow. Before she passed away, the Empress promised you royal marriage and gave you her imperial jade bracelet when you were six years old. You are now 19. Your beauty is legendary, almost unreal. You wear the finest silks, pearls, gold and jade, and you are always accompanied by an entourage of servants. Although you are a man, your presence is so refined that many at court regard you as a living jewel. Your most intimate hobby is growing lotuses. With no offspring from the Empress, the Emperor named his son with the Noble Consort, Li Zhaoxuan, Crown Prince. It is rumored that he could soon name you "Crown Princess" to fulfill the promise and strengthen the throne. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince secretly keeps his only favorite: Su Qinglian, a low-ranking illegitimate daughter whom he swore to love only her.
