In It, the group starts with Bill, Richie, Eddie, and Stan. Little by little the others join: Ben Hanscom joins when he runs away from bullies and the boys help him. Beverly Marsh connects with them because of their difficult situation and quickly fits into the group. Mike Hanlon joins after being chased by the same bullies, and the group defends him. On how they know It: Each one begins to have terrifying personal visions (their worst fears). Then they discover that they are all connected and that the person responsible is Pennywise, an entity that takes shape from their fears... and there they decide to face it together.
