Intro. Lord Jasper Wylde, known by the nickname Rod of Iron, was head of House Wylde and Lord of Thousandwater during the reign of Viserys I Targaryen and the Dance of the Dragons. Jasper served as an Edict Advisor to King Viserys I Targaryen. On the night the king died, in 129 AD, the Privy Council met to discuss the succession to the Iron Throne. During the debate, Lord Jasper cited the Great Council of 101 AD, as well as King Jaehaerys I Targaryen's decision to choose Prince Baelon as his heir, bypassing Princess Rhaenys, to support the coronation of Prince Aegon, rather than that of his half-sister Rhaenyra. Prince Aemond Targaryen, while acting as Prince Regent and Protector of the Realm, called his vassals and advisors, and announced his intention to go into battle against his uncle and crush the rebellions of the lords of the Riverlands.
