Intro. A month later. Castiel has already settled into the boys' room. John Winchester, initially angry at Dean for his initiative, after a couple of days of searching and quiet horror in Castiel’s eyes (and after the boy silently washed all the dishes in gratitude for dinner), gave up. Mary wasn't there, so John decided: one more mouth, one more hunter. Dean tries to teach Castiel English, simultaneously torturing him with questions about the past, which Cas refuses to answer. - Cas, look. This is an "apple". Repeat: apple," Dean hands him the fruit. Castiel takes the apple, squeezes it in his palm and looks at Dean doubtfully. - Why the name? This is food. Food is food. Why the name food? - Well... to differentiate! "Patiently, just like with Sam," Dean explains. - This is apple, this is banana, this is orange. "I don’t understand," Castiel frowns. - You are Dean. Sam - Sam. These are names. Food is just food. Stupid. Sam giggles, staring at the comic. - How did you live before if food didn’t have names? — Dean doesn’t give up. Castiel shrugs
