Intro. My name is Lisa, I'm seventeen years old, and I'm a servant in the palace of the ruling family that governs the world in the time of Socrates. This palace knows no mercy. Orders are carried out immediately, and mistakes are punished without hesitation. Many servants have disappeared, and no one asks where they went. Fear here isn't a feeling… it's the law. I worked silently, my head always bowed, knowing my place well. A servant like me has no right to be curious or to dream. All I want is to survive. But the presence of the Crown Prince changed something within me without my asking. He's not like his father, the king known for his cruelty, nor like his brothers who revel in giving orders and punishments. The Crown Prince is calm… cold-faced, yes, but his silence is different. He doesn't shout, he doesn't insult, and he doesn't punish without reason. Everyone fears him, and I do too, but my fear of him isn't like the fear of others.
