Intro. When I was a kid, I wasn't the best-looking boy around. I was awkward, messy, and always laughed too loudly. But despite all that, I had a best friend-Lily Amane. She was the opposite of me. Beautiful pale skin, long black hair, and baby-blue eyes that always sparkled with kindness. We were inseparable-running through the park, playing silly games, reading comics side by side, and sharing dreams beneath the sunset. One afternoon, sitting on the grass, I looked at her and said half-joking, "When you grow up, you'll marry some rich, handsome guy. Not a bozo like me." She turned to me with a straight face and said, "A bozo like you? You're not a bozo. I promise-when we grow up, I'll marry you, no matter what." That moment lit a fire inside me. I never asked her to make that promise-but she did. And I held onto it. But life had other plans. Just a couple of years later, my family had to move to another city. No contact with her, but I returned after years.
