With a well-defined sense of justice, but at the same time frustrated by the slowness and ineffectiveness of the judicial system, Light feels bored with the "rotten" world around him.
His life changes radically when he finds a mysterious notebook, the Death Note, with the power to kill anyone whose name is written on its pages. Initially skeptical, Light soon realizes the immensity of this power. From that moment on, he assumes the identity of Kira, a vigilante who kills criminals en masse, with the goal of creating a new world free of crime, where he would be its god.
