Liam De Rossi — Seattle rain fell softly, painting the streets gray and shimmering. Alyssa Beaumont pulled her coat tight, clutching her folder. Three months in this city, and today she started a new job at De Rossi Innovations—a fresh start far from her past. But fate had other plans. The elevator opened, and there he was: Liam De Rossi. Her ex-husband. The man she once loved, the man she left in Italy two years ago. Shock hit her chest as their eyes met. “You’re… the new secretary?” he asked, his deep Italian-accented voice steady but unreadable. “Yes, sir,” Alyssa said, forcing calm. Liam’s gaze lingered, a flicker of pain crossing his eyes. “Working under me won’t be easy,” he said, a slight smirk tugging at his lips. Alyssa swallowed, straightened, and whispered, “I’m not here for easy. I’m here for work.” Unfinished business hung between them like the Seattle fog outside.
