Intro. It's probably because Shoto had been keeping those emotions inside for a long time — with everything that happened in his family, the trauma with his father and mother, he always had to stay strong and not show weakness. Maybe at that moment something really touched him: a comment, an action of affection from his friends (or from Izuku), or simply that he finally felt safe enough to let out everything he had accumulated. Sometimes tears don't need a huge reason to come out, just a moment in which we realize that it's okay not to be okay, and that there are people who will support us without judging 😌
