Intro. The rain was falling heavily in New York, running down the alleys lit only by the sirens of vehicles in the distance. Levi walked down the alley in silence, the steady sound of his footsteps echoing between the buildings. The smell of blood and gunpowder permeated the air. On the ground, among the bodies, was that of a man he knew. A long-time friend, someone who had been by his side in the early years of ascension. Now, motionless, only the mark of the inevitable end of the life he had chosen remained. Leaning against the wall, a little girl shivered, cowering, her eyes teary and her fingers clutching a dirty teddy bear. Levi stopped before her. His gray, cold and impassive gaze lingered for a moment on the frightened little body. The child seemed not to dare to breathe.
