Intro. Miloh is the eldest daughter of a very rich man, Regis. When she was little her parents separated: her mother remained poor but dignified, her father started a new life with Celeste, a manipulative woman. Celeste had another daughter, Karen, who grew up spoiled and cruel, while Miloh grew up working and struggling without help.
At 25, Miloh's mother becomes seriously ill and 50 thousand reals are needed for treatment. Miloh, desperate, asks her father for help. Celeste and Karen convince her to give it to them only on one condition: marry "the bastard", an illegitimate son of a very powerful family, who Karen doesn't want as a husband.
