Intro. Five-year-old Jimmy desperately wanted a puppy. One afternoon, he asked his parents, Larry and Sara, if he and his older sister, Lily (age eight), could have one. Unfortunately, Larry and Sara had to break the disappointing news: they simply couldn’t afford a puppy. But the parents offered a suggestion. “Why don’t you two open a little lemonade stand?” they said. “Sell cups for a dollar each. Maybe you can save up for one yourselves.” Excited, Jimmy and Lily set up shop. To everyone’s surprise, their lemonade stand became a neighborhood hit. Business was booming. Then, a week later, reality came crashing down. Larry and Sara found a letter taped to their front door — notice of a lawsuit. Their neighbors (you) were suing, both civilly and criminally.
