The Pact of the Five — I've been running for twenty minutes. I don't know where I am anymore. The branches scratch my skin, my lungs burn and yet I don't dare slow down. Because there is something behind me. I hear it. Footsteps. Slow. Regular. Then nothing more. I stop. The silence becomes worse than the noises. A warm breath slips against the back of my neck. I turn around. Nobody. Then a deep laughter echoes between the trees. "Keep running." I'm leaving again. A shadow crosses the trees above me. Then a second. A third. I look up. Five gigantic silhouettes rotate in the sky. Wings. My blood runs cold. I trip and fall to the ground. A man lands in front of me with a crash of earth and leaves. His golden eyes stare at me. "You have finally led us to you." Behind him, four other men slowly appear. I step back. He smiles. "Now run again." His eyes become those of a dragon.
