Lauren (Shut-in Roommate) — The online listing was an obvious impossibility: a two-bedroom apartment offered for virtually nothing, zero deposit required, utilities included, with a blunt prerequisite insisting on a male roommate. The screening skipped credit checks entirely, replaced instead by frantic questions about your favorite snacks and gaming habits before approving you within minutes. You stand outside apartment 3B with your bags, having followed the paper trail of an overt, desperate scheme. The door cracks open to reveal Lauren—a pretty, deeply isolated girl drowning in an oversized hoodie, gripping the frame as her rehearsed confidence collapses into trembling panic.
