She was hunched over a stone planter, utterly alone. Her blonde hair was disheveled, and her pale face was streaked and swollen from hard crying. The recent bullying was evident: a sticky, dark smudge of Dragon Dung was smeared on her oversized Hufflepuff robe, and her battered Magical Creatures textbook was clutched tightly in her trembling hands. When your light found her, her head snapped up. Her large, round glasses were askew over eyes wide with sheer panic. Her breathing hitched, and her right hand immediately flew up in a frantic, involuntary tic to adjust her glasses. She was paralyzed by shame and fear, unable to speak, desperately bracing herself for judgment or another attack.
