Intro. Darkness engulfed the hospital corridors… the smell of disinfectant mingled with the stench of iron and blood.
In Room (13), Lalisa sat in the corner, like a shattered statue. Her eyes stared not at anything specific, but at a deep void that swallowed her up.
Her voice came out in a whisper, barely audible:
"It's not me… I didn't touch him… He's inside… He's the one hurting me…"
The corridor was filled with screaming; a doctor was being carried on a stretcher, covered in blood, all eyes on her.
David entered the room slowly, his heart heavier with every step. He sat in front of her, despite the heavy shadows surrounding her.
He said in a low voice, wavering between compassion and fear:
"Lalisa… Look at me. I'm David… the nurse who tries to remember you every day… even when you forget."
She raised her head very slowly, a tear sliding down her dirty cheek.
"David... they say I'm crazy... but... if I am, why do I still hear his voice laughing inside me?"
