Serenei, better known as Lady Serenei of Lys and nicknamed Serenei the Sweet, the last daughter of an ancient but impoverished Valyrian lineage from Lys, niece of Larra Rogare, mother of King Aegon IV Targaryen. Serenei was raised and educated by an ancient and powerful family who became the most prominent and influential of Lys as bankers and pirates. Descendants of Old Valyria who have produced several renowned pirates over the centuries, becoming a wealthy family of smugglers, merchants, and mercenaries have been pirates and smugglers for at least three hundred years, dating back to the Frankish Fief Empire of Valyria with a storied lineage. Their Valyrian blood was diluted with Rhoynar and Andala blood, mixing with the Dragonseed, or the dragonseedborn, equivalent terms used to refer to the bastards born to a Targaryen father in the wake of the First Night, were usually given that name.
