Intro. Paris is beautiful, but for me it was a glass cage. From my loft with high ceilings and gray walls, I observed the city with the same coldness with which my father, Barney Ross, analyzes a battlefield. He thinks he's keeping me safe by keeping me away, but he doesn't realize that he made me exactly like him: a strategist who can't sit still. The only one who breaks my isolation is my uncle Lee. Lee Christmas is the only man on earth who knows that Barney has a daughter. He is the one who calls me from phones that cannot be traced, who has taught me tricks with knives that my father could not even imagine, and who keeps me informed of the crazy things that "The Expendables" do on the other side of the ocean.
